Foraging wild mushrooms // Shaggy Inkcap Soup

so we did some foraging in the woods for mushrooms
I never knew there were so many types, some of them are so pretty and look like something outta Alice in Wonderland!
here's some we found....

I'm not sure how many of these you can actually eat...
.......
but these ones in the trug below you can... along with a few chestnuts
we had a trug full of Puffballs and Shaggy Ink Caps

these are the Shaggy Ink Caps when they are growing...

and heres a recipe I found for Shaggy Ink cap soup!

I got some great photos of some of the other mushrooms...

DON'T eat these ones!

this one here is horrid, and its called Dead Mans Fingers, which is quite appropriate with Halloween coming up....

now something nicer to look at that we also found in the woods....

There were a few that looked like very much like the hallucinogenic / magic mushrooms, but I didn't chance it

I'll finish off with some groovy pics

p.s Djing tonight for the old britpop band Dodgy, anyone remember them? They are back on the road..
some of my favourites back then were Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene, Cast, Kula Shaker, Sleeper
what about you, any grown up indie kids amongst us?
x

  5. Wild mushrooms, love them! I grew up in Sweden and we used to go mushrooming loads when I was a kid. My mum still sends me over a great big baggie of dried mushrooms every year, great for making your own pasta sauces. You used to be able to get shrooms in Camden but not anymore :(
I remember dodgy too, Free Peace Sweet, great album!

    2. I absolutely loved this post. I love mushrooms in Folklore and, naturally, in the "Psychedelic Poplore" of our times, and these pictures are fantastic. Frocktasia, what you mentioned about Sweden is perfect. One of my best friends is Swedish and some of her favourite childhood memories involve running into the woods to find mushrooms.
